Mary's Academic Musical Enrichment Classes

When academia and the stage meet!

Wizard of Oz #3_edited_edited_edited.jpg

Welcome!

I'm so glad you're here. If you're a homeschooling family seeking creative, joyful, and academically enriching classes, you're in the right place!

For the first time this fall, I'm excited to offer online enrichment programs every Tuesday and Wednesday in addition to my in-person class. These programs combine music, movement, theater, and Montessori-inspired learning to make reading, writing, history, and science come alive for children in meaningful and memorable ways.

Musical Theater Program Highlight: I'm especially excited about my in-person Musical Theater program. In this high-energy class, students will actively participate in a full-scale production of Wonderland the Musical, building skills in acting, singing, and stage presence while working together as a team to bring the show to life!

I welcome privately homeschooled students from across the United States for my online classes.

My program is approved with Southern California homeschool charters: Pacific Coast Academy, Mission Vista Academy, Sage Oak, Elite, Excel, Freedom, and SoCal Scholars Academy.

As a homeschool consultant, IEP advocate, author, and creator of academic-based musicals, my mission is to support **the whole child—and the whole family—**through enrichment that educates, encourages, and inspires.

Take a look around, explore upcoming classes, and let's make learning an experience your child looks forward to every week!

Site Safety Plan

Policy and Procedures for Pupil and Site Safety - Mary’s Academic Musical Enrichment Classes

Vendor:  Mary Resenbeck

Purpose:

This Site Safety Plan is established to ensure the physical, emotional, and digital safety of all students participating in educational activities with Mary’s Academic Musical Enrichment Classes, in-person or virtually. My goal is to maintain a nurturing, safe, and responsive environment where students can thrive creatively and academically.

1. General Safety Policies

  • All classroom volunteers must follow safety rules and procedures, be thoroughly vetted, and be trained in CPR and First Aid, as well as undergo LIVESCAN fingerprinting.

  • Students will receive an age-appropriate safety orientation at the beginning of each session or upon enrollment.

  • Safety procedures will be reviewed regularly and practiced through drills and discussions.

  • Students must follow safety rules and procedures in online and in-person classes.

2. Classroom Safety (In-Person Settings)

  • Supervision: Students are always supervised. They are never left unattended.

  • Access Control: Only authorized personnel and parents/guardians may enter the classroom or learning site.

  • Environment: Learning spaces are kept clean, free from tripping hazards, and compliant with fire safety codes.

  • Emergency Exits: All students will be shown emergency exits and routes during the first week of class. Diagrams will be posted visibly.

  • Personal Belongings: Students must keep personal items in designated areas to prevent clutter or hazards.

  • First Aid: A stocked first aid kit is on-site, and at least one adult present is trained in basic first aid and CPR.

  • Food Safety: Any food shared must be pre-packaged or follow allergy-safe guidelines. Parents are encouraged to inform me or my volunteers of any allergies or medical conditions.

3. Emergency Response Procedures

Fire / Earthquake / Lockdown Drills

  • Drills are conducted quarterly.

  • Students are trained to calmly and quickly follow evacuation procedures.

  • Attendance will be taken before and after drills to ensure all students are accounted for.

In Case of Injury or Illness

  • Minor injuries will be treated on-site. Parents will be notified by phone or email.

  • For more serious injuries, 911 will be called, and the parent/guardian will be contacted immediately.

  • An Incident Report will be completed and stored securely.

Shelter-in-Place / Lockdown

  • In the event of a local threat, students will shelter indoors with doors locked and communication maintained with parents and authorities.

  • Emergency contacts must be kept up to date by each family.

4. Virtual Learning Safety

  • Platform Use: Only secure and approved platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) will be used for classes.

  • Digital Etiquette: Students are expected to behave respectfully online, keeping cameras on (when possible) and muting when not speaking.

  • Cybersecurity: Personal information will never be shared during virtual classes. All digital materials are protected and monitored.

  • Supervision: Instructors should be visible during virtual instruction to ensure proper supervision for all students, especially those under age 10.

5. Student Health & Well-being

  • Bullying & Harassment: Any incidents of bullying or harassment, in-person or virtual, will be taken seriously and addressed promptly. While serious offenses may result in immediate removal from the program, most situations follow a progressive discipline policy focused on education, restoration, and accountability.

Consequences include:

  1. verbal warning,

  2. Parent meeting to develop a behavior contract,

  3. Temporary suspension,

  4. Expulsion (will only be considered after three repeated offenses or in cases involving serious threats to safety)

  • Students and families are encouraged to report concerns confidentially so that we can support all learners in maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment.

  • Contagious Illnesses: Students showing symptoms of illness should remain home or attend virtually (if available) until well enough to return to in-person classes. Families are asked to report positive cases promptly.

6. Incident and Accident Reporting

  • All accidents or injuries must be reported immediately to the instructor.

  • A written Incident Report Form will be completed and filed.

  • Parents/guardians will be notified of any incidents involving their child.

  • Reports will be reviewed quarterly to assess trends and update safety practices as needed.

7. Review and Updates

  • This safety plan will be reviewed annually or as needed based on activity, staffing, or location changes.

  • Input from parents, staff, and students will be welcomed during safety plan evaluations.

About the Teacher

Throughout my 25-year career in education, I have dedicated myself to supporting a diverse range of learners and fostering a passion for learning in all students. As a Homeschool Liaison, I have helped families navigate homeschooling and built strong connections among educators, parents, and students. I am committed to understanding and meeting the unique needs of families, especially those coping with learning differences.

As a Special Needs Advocate, I have taken a proactive stance in advocating for inclusive educational environments that cater to the diverse learning needs of every child. I have authored the book 'Take Charge of Your Child's Education,' which promotes an individualized learning approach. Additionally, I have written several articles exploring innovative educational methods. Drawing from my background in theater, I have innovatively created educational musicals for core subjects, offering a unique and engaging learning method for students. My approach, which aligns with the Montessori philosophy, creates a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

I am certified in CPR and First Aid and hold specialized certification through the Master IEP Coach® Mentorship Program, providing me with additional training to support diverse learners with knowledge and care. In addition, both myself and any volunteers working with students have completed Live Scan background checks and fingerprinting to ensure a safe and trustworthy environment for all families. These qualifications, along with my 25 years of experience in education, reflect my deep commitment to creating a secure, supportive, and enriching space where every child can thrive.
